For the most part, the artists featured here, who have adopted computer tools into their work, are masters of those traditonal tools as well. Very few use the computer exclusively in the creation of their pieces. Instead the use it as one of a multitude of tools in a palette, either for a particular esthetic effect or simply for the ease it can add to the editing and productions processes. For the most part this section illustrates the computer's complete and unselfconscious absorption into the artist's palette-another tool to use, or not, as the piece-the idea requires

The illustration for this 45 rpm by the punk band Love Battery was inspired by the song title "Snipe Hunt," which refers to a practical joke use on first time campers: they're told to shine a flashlight behind a pillowcase to catch the mythical snipe. The image was hand-drawn, scanned, converted to outlines and tweaked in Freehand, then colorized in Adobe Photoshop.
